My college campus has a little lake with an island in the middle. There is this tradition that if you walk across the bridge holding hands onto the island and carve your initials into a tree then you'll get married. My senior year of college, my boyfriend and I did just that. Flash forward two years and I'm visiting him in law school and I ask if we can visit my college campus across the street. I really wanted to visit the bookstore since the last time I visited it was closed. We had plans to go out to dinner afterwards but we had some time between our reservation and when the bookstore closed so I suggested we walk around campus and go look at our tree. We walk around before finally getting to the island. I see our tree covered in lights and roses on the ground. I thought they were for someone else but he suggests we walk over and check it out. He bends down to turn on the lights and all I can think is "what are you doing? those are for someone else, you can't touch them!" He hands me a bouquet of roses and tells me its all for me. He got down on one knee and said "you are my best friend and the love of my life, will you marry me?" I was so surprised and happy I shouted "of course!" It was absolutely perfect, he even had some of our friends hiding in the bushes to capture the moment!
