Once you have decided on the exact bridal dress silhouette that you want, there is another thing that you need to pin down - the neckline. With a plethora of bridal gown necklines to choose from, you need to find one that flatters your body type, complements your personal style and ultimately makes you feel gorgeous on your wedding day.

To help you with that, we have gathered a list of some of the most popular bridal gown necklines. Take a look.

    Off-the-shoulder

As the name suggests, this neckline sits below your shoulders, exposing your shoulders and collarbone. This style is flattering on all body types, whether you are medium - or full-chested. However, if you are looking for something more conservative, a portrait neckline may be the right choice for you. A portrait neckline frames your collarbone, with the straps or sleeves resting on your shoulder blades.

    Halter

A halter neck is designed with straps that wrap around the neck at the back. Sometimes, a high neck (almost bordering on turtleneck) with deep-cut armholes can also be called a halter neck. If you are slightly heavy chested, a halter neck will provide you good support. This style is most flattering on women with broad shoulders.

    Sweetheart

This neckline derives its name from the fact that it is designed like the top half of a heart. If you are looking for a gown that draws attention to your decolletage, you might want to consider a sweetheart neckline.

    Boat Neck

Also called Bateau or Sabrina, a boat neck is a neckline that runs across the collarbone, from one tip of the shoulder to the other. It is cut horizontally so it exposes less of your decolletage. This graceful neckline looks great with either sleeves or a sleeveless style.

    V-neck

Just like the name implies, this neckline plunges down in the front, and sometimes also in the back, to create a V-shape. It takes the focus away from the bustline, thus making it perfect for brides that are generously endowed.

    Scoop

One of the classic necklines, the scoop is in the shape of U. This neckline is characterized by a deep cut in the front as well as the back. It will draw the eye downward, thus lengthening your neck and accentuating your collarbone. It is flattering on all body types.

These were only some of the necklines from which you can take your pick. The key to finding the perfect bridal gown neckline is to try on a few different styles to see what works best for you.
